NCAA/NAIA Eligibility

Students planning to enroll in college and participate as freshmen in Division I or II, or NAIA athletics must be registered by either NCAA Eligibility Center or NAIA Eligibility Center. Not all courses offered by the Sioux Falls School District are NCAA approved. Please click the links on this page for more information on NCAA and NAIA.

NCAA

The National Collegiate Athletic Association is a member-led organization dedicated to the wellbeing and lifelong success of college athletes. NCAA schools award billions in athletic scholarships every year and provide vast support to help student-athletes graduate at a rate higher than their general student peers.

Among the three NCAA divisions, Division I schools generally have the biggest student bodies, manage the largest athletics budgets and offer the highest number of athletics scholarships. Division II provides growth opportunities through academic achievement, learning in high-level athletics competitions, and a focus on service to the community. The Division III experience offers participation in a competitive athletics environment that pushes college athletes to excel on the field and build upon their potential by tackling new challenges across campus.

NAIA

Play NAIA helps future student-athletes discover and connect with NAIA schools, coaches and athletic scholarships. Play NAIA is also the official clearinghouse for NAIA eligibility. Every student-athlete must register with the NAIA Eligibility Center to play sports at an NAIA college or university.
