There is a continuum of social, emotional, and behavioral supports available to help all students experience success in school. Every student has access to school-wide supports, and additional interventions are provided when individual needs arise. Some services are delivered by trained professionals who specialize in supporting students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development. When students require more intensive support, specialized programs at alternate sites may be considered.

These specialized programs feature smaller class sizes and lower staff-to-student ratios to provide individualized behavioral support, social skills instruction, and opportunities for students to participate with peers at their home attendance center whenever appropriate. The general education curriculum is introduced in a small-group setting by behavior program teachers, while students continue to receive the instructional supports needed to help them succeed. Placement in a specialized program is determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team based on each student's unique strengths, needs, and educational goals.
