The Department of Homeland Security has designated September 25th as national "See Something, Say Something" day. With the safety and security of our students and staff being the highest priority for the Sioux Falls School District, we come together in unity on this day as each of us plays a role in protecting our schools. Risk Manager of the Sioux Falls School District, Bob Bray, says, "The need for students, employees, families, and the public to report concerns of a potential or real threat can make all the difference in preventing a serious incident." It is crucial for us to be prepared to recognize and respond to signs of suspicious activity. Please help us keep our schools safe by taking the time today to recognize the steps you should take if you see suspicious activity happening in or around our schools. If you see suspicious activity, report it to law enforcement and describe what you observed, including: ⚠️ Who or what you saw; ⚠️ When you saw it; ⚠️ Where it occurred; and ⚠️Why it's suspicious. Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!

We're celebrating Arts in Education Week! 🎨🎭🎶 Even our non-school buildings are taking part in the celebration! Over here at the Instructional Planning Center, the Fine Arts Instructional Coach team put together a fun project for IPC staff to work on throughout the week! Each staff member is to paint their square in a way that is uniquely theirs. See how it started versus how it's going now! As we use this week to reflect on the importance of having the arts in our schools, we know that it is an essential part of a complete education, no matter if it happens in the home, school, or community. Students of all ages—from kindergarten to college to creative aging programs—benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. Celebrating National Arts in Education Week is a way to recognize this impact and share the message with friends, family, and communities. As we know, arts learning can improve students' motivation, concentration, confidence, teamwork, and much more. Please help us extend the deepest amount of gratitude to all the arts educators in our District!

It's been almost 4 years to the day since the community overwhelmingly passed a $190 million bond initiative that, so far, has funded the construction of Jefferson High School and Ben Reifel Middle School, along with several other projects. Now, the Sioux Falls School Board moves forward with its final bond project - the construction of a new elementary school that will be home to roughly 680 students in the northwest part of town. The new elementary school is expected to open in 2025. You can find more information by watching a replay from today's school board work session here ---> https://youtu.be/AUP2bxLEV1c
