Whittier Middle School teachers used chalk messages to pump students up as they entered school this week to tackle standardized tests. The colorful greetings were met with curiosity, laughter, and realization that teachers are always cheering students on to do their best!
It was Signing Day for our Cyber Academy students at the CTE Academy last Wednesday! We are so proud of these students who are taking the next step in their computer science journeys by committing to @Dakota State University! We can't wait to see what the future holds for these students!
A reminder to families that the Parent/Guardian Survey was recently sent out via email, and we’d love to hear from you! Your feedback helps us better support your child’s success in school. Please complete the survey before Saturday, April 19, 2025.
As part of Take Down Tobacco Day earlier this week, students in the Community Learning Centers (pictured here from an Anne Sullivan CLC classroom) took a deep dive into the dangers of smoking and vaping.
Using curriculum from the South Dakota Department of Health, students engaged in hands-on activities to explore what addiction really means, how smoking impacts those around them, and how harmful chemicals like nicotine, lead, and formaldehyde affect the body, potentially limiting their ability to do what they love.
Through SFSD’s Break the Clouds Youth Vape-Free Initiative, created in partnership with the City of Sioux Falls Health Department, we are committed to educating students early and empowering them to make healthier choices for a tobacco-free future.
A huge thank you to our CLCs for leading the conversation!

Today marked the start of the fourth quarter! 🏫
We are officially in the home stretch of the 2024-2025 school year, and every school day counts! Being present, both physically and mentally, sets students up for success now and in the future.
Consistent attendance equals better learning, stronger habits, and more opportunities. Missing just a few days can add up and make it harder to stay on track. Let’s finish strong by showing up, staying engaged, and making these last months count!
See you in school! | #AttendanceMatters
Last week, we introduced you to Penelope, and now it’s time to meet her babies!
She welcomed 9 healthy piglets into the world on Friday, 5 girls and 4 boys, and they are already thriving under her care.
Our CTE Academy students are getting hands-on experience in animal science as they help care for these little ones. Stay tuned for more updates as they grow!
Reminder that daylight saving happened this weekend! We sprung forward this time, so be sure to set your clocks ahead one hour to keep everyone on time for school on Monday! ⏰
