The Sioux Falls School District is committed to the most efficient use of resources to deliver the highest quality education. In that spirit, starting this fall, a handful of Sioux Falls School District schools will have slight adjustments to their daily start and end times. This change has been thoroughly reviewed and is necessary to ensure efficient bus routes given the current labor shortage. Alternate ideas were discussed, however, the Sioux Falls School District chose not to eliminate bussing for students who live at previously served addresses. Adjusting start times is the least disruptive option. The District prides itself on providing bussing far and above what the law requires because we know it has a positive impact on student attendance and is a convenience for working families.
If your child’s school is one of the schools affected by this change, you should have received communication letting you know of the change. This change represents the best solution and least impact for the good of all students. We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we face this unique challenge.
