Garfield Elementary School's leadership-building program is working. In addition to daily and weekly recognition, student leadership is being taught, recognized and encouraged through programs like this one. One student from each classroom at Garfield, grades K-5, was nominated by their teacher to have a lunch and learn event at the CTE Academy, working with students and teachers in the media arts program and in one of our culinary kitchens. Students recorded leadership messages (and had a little fun with the green screen) and make their own pizzas for lunch and decorated cupcakes for dessert! Next week, the Leader in Me program will have it's final Leader Lunch at City Hall with the Mayor and six other community leaders!
