Students in the Teacher Pathway Program

Choosing a career can be a daunting task for a teenager. That’s why the Sioux Falls School District started the Teacher Pathway program – to expose students to the education profession sooner. Students at all four high schools learn the ins and outs of teaching and work in another classroom to experience all the possibilities.

In November, Teacher Pathway students took a trip to the University of South Dakota’s School of Education. They learned about what it takes to specialize in elementary, middle, or high school teaching, heard from current students pursuing a degree in education, met with college advisors and faculty, and experienced life on campus.

Roosevelt High School Teacher Gina Benz also met up with some of her former Teacher Pathway students who are now earning their education degrees! SFSD and USD are leading the way in developing future educators!
