Students exiting bus

SFSD takes school safety seriously!  Superintendent Dr. Jane Stavem recently reached out to families who use busing services with the following message:

"I want to welcome you to another great school year where, along with our partners at School Bus Inc., we look forward to providing safe transportation for your children.  I’m calling today to request your help with a couple of things.  First, if you haven’t already done so, please check your email for the invitation you received on August 16th from no-relply@transfinder.com to download the Stopfinder bus app.

Stopfinder helps families keep track of the bus as it gets closer to your stop and provides a safety net so we can be sure your student is getting on and off at the right location.  You do need that invite in order for the app to work so check your email.  Students will receive their access card to ride the bus when they return to school.  New this year, School Bus Inc. will communicate directly with families phone and email if there are any delays.

Second, I’d like to remind you that riding the bus is a privilege.  Please discuss, as a family, the proper respect that should be given to drivers, aides, and to other students. When behaviors are dangerous or distract the drivers, students can lose their privileges of riding the bus.  For the safety of all, we expect students to use their manners and appreciate the service that is being provided to them.

And finally, please practice patience.  Road construction, new routines, and extra cars dropping kids off during the first week of school can cause delays.  Let’s all focus on getting to school safely.  Now, don’t forget to download the app.  Let’s have a great school year! "

District leaders and School Bus Inc. recently worked together to develop videos that reinforce behavior expectations on the buses.
