Congratulations to Sonia Sotomayor fourth-grader Annika Kimber on having your artwork chosen as the 2023 Work Zone Awareness Billboard winner!
Representatives from the Association of General Contractors of America (AGC of SD) and the SD DOT, along with some of Annika's family, surprised her in her classroom today with the announcement. She was presented with a $25 check and her classroom received a $100 check. Her billboard is currently up on I-29 near the 41st Street exit on mile marker 77. National Work Zone Awareness week is April 17th-24th, so the timing is perfect, and with the construction going on at the 41st Street bridge, the placement couldn't be better to remind drivers to "Stay alert. Don't get hurt."
