Media Credentials for Athletics

Policies, Guidelines & Credential Requests

  • Media representatives wishing to pursue a story will need to seek approval from the Sioux Falls School District Communities Relations Office.  Supervisor – DeeAnn Konrad can be contacted at DeeAnn.Konrad@k12.sd.us.

Journalist

  • Interviews and photo/video sessions will be arranged at a time that will not interfere with the student‐athlete's academic schedule or coach or administrator’s daily responsibilities. Requests should be made at least two days in advance to allow proper notification to the player, coach, or administrator. 

  • Gameday: Pre‐game and Post‐Game interviews of any player, coach or school official are permitted, with the approval of the head coach.

  • Should be prepared to use an alternate broadcast location as many of our locations are limited by space. 

  • Locker rooms at all Sioux Falls School District activities (practice, event, or competition) will be closed to all reporters, photographers, and videographers. 

  • Interviews and/or live microphones on a coach and/or player during any portion of the actual athletic contest, to include team huddles and locker rooms, are not permitted.

  • All members of the media must remain outside of the team bench, official scorers’ area, and designated team areas for the duration of the contest, to include during starting lineups and timeouts. Media personnel should always remain off the competition arena.  For football, all media must always remain outside of the 25-yard team box markers and behind the black/white dotted media line.  

  • All media members must be mobile (no tripods) and may not be in a position where they may interfere with the contest.

Credentials are required for all events in the Sioux Falls School District and can be requested through the Media Credential Request Form.

  • All 2023-2024 credential request must be submitted by: Friday, July 21, 2023

    • The SFSD media credential must be worn so that it is always visible while at our events.   

    • Press and photographer media credentials will be issued to members of the accredited media only.

    • Representatives should be affiliated with a lawful working business or enterprise with a Federal Tax ID/Employer Identification Number.

    • The Sioux Falls School District will not issue credentials for freelance writers, freelance or commercial photographers, recruiting services, independent photographers not representing a publication, newspaper, or school journalism.
