The Jefferson High School Band Department has made history! The Cavalier Concert Band Festival held on Thursday, March 10, is the first of its kind in the area. It is a non-competitive festival that is focused on raising the level of performance by providing students an opportunity to work with both local and national clinicians. Several bands from the region participated by engaging in a performance for the clinicians, who also served as judges, as well as other attendees from the public. Following the performances, the students got to take part in a clinic session, led by national clinicians, Dr. Gary Hill from Los Angeles, California, and Van Ragsdale from San Antonino Texas. Local clinicians included Chris Unger and Dr. Peter Folliard from Augustana University. Bands that participated this year were from Jefferson, Roosevelt, Washington, Lincoln, O’Gorman, McCook Central, and Brookings.
