March is Youth Art Month, a time to celebrate the role creativity plays in our schools, and this year, that celebration is happening both in classrooms and on gallery walls!
Now on display at the Washington Pavilion, the Sioux Falls Art Educators Exhibit features original artwork created by SFSD art teachers from across the District. The exhibit runs through May 31st, 2026, and offers the community a chance to experience the creativity these educators bring to their classroom every day.
The exhibition began with an idea from Edison Middle School art teacher Meagan Turbak, who wanted her students to see that the passion she teaches is something she actively practices.
"This showcase has been a dream of mine since my first year teaching," Turbak shared. "I wanted to show students that I don't just preach it - I actually do it!"
With support from Marcella LeBeau and Hawthorne Elementary art teacher Kathy Dang, through her role on the City of Sioux Falls Visual Arts Committee, the idea grew into a partnership with the City of Sioux Falls and became a reality at the Washington Pavilion.
The exhibit offers a unique opportunity to see the people behind the classroom in a new way and experience the creativity they bring to life every day!
We invite you to stop by, explore the exhibit, and support our wonderful and talented educators!
