The Sioux Falls School Board is seeking suggestions for the name of the new elementary school being built near George McGovern Middle School in the northwestern part of the city. Policy requires a committee to be formed to make a decision, but before that occurs, the District wants to hear from stakeholders about their suggestions.
Policy indicates "the name for the school shall be selected from the following categories:
• Presidents of the United States
• Persons who have achieved distinction in such fields as art, literature, music, education, or science
• Individuals who have made a significant contribution to society
• Location of the school, its street, or direction
• Famous event or location."

Submissions will be accepted through Monday, January 22, 2024. A groundbreaking was held this past spring. The school is expected to open in Fall 2025.
