Throughout the month of November, Ms. Nelson led a writing group during PRIDE for students interested in entering Siouxland Libraries' 2024 Teen Writing Contest. This amazing group of students brainstormed and wrote up their own creative stories around the contest theme, "The First Chapter." As you can see, they were excited to submit their final stories after a month of hard work! We're so proud of our Whittier contestants! #CreativityInTheClassroom

Whittier Očéti Šakówiŋ Owáuŋspe (OSO) students welcomed author Mark Mindt this afternoon. Mark spoke with 7th grade students about his Dakota superhero comic book, "KODA The Warrior," and his experiences growing up, discovering his talents and dreams. We were lucky enough to hear him share stories and play his flutes, too! Thank you, Mark, for sharing your gifts with Whittier!
