Thank you to all teachers and staff during this Teacher Appreciation Week!
Take a moment this week to thank a teacher. In person, a positive note or e-mail to let them know how much they are appreciated. Thank you teachers for everything you do!

Wow! SFSD is so grateful to the Sioux Falls STORM, LEVO, and media partners KELOLand TV for supporting Operation Hope & Caring where $18,417 was raised to support elementary schools that don't have PTAs/PTOs. We had a great time at the game and especially enjoyed the WIN! ❤️

3rd and 4th Quarter PACK Party
Way to show you are part of the PACK and showing those PACK skills each and every day. Today we celebrated with a popcorn party.

K is for Kindness
Third graders reading to Kindergarten buddies. Way to show that you are part of the PACK by sharing that Kindness with others.

Tonight is THE night! Come out to support SFSD elementary schools without PTAs/PTOs as the Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard. It's also Star Wars night, so wear your gear and bring your lightsaber to this fun family event sponsored by LEVO Credit Union!

The Weather Service indicates the greatest threat of severe weather did not materialize in Sioux Falls. We will begin our bus routes at approximately 3pm, so there will be a slight delay in getting elementary and middle school students home. High School dismisses at normal time.

Due to the weather 4-30-24, SFSD will hold all elementary students who walk or ride the bus until the system passes. We expect the system to arrive about 2:45pm and be done around 3pm. Busses will not leave the elementary schools until it is safe to do so. This will also cause a delay in middle school bus routes, so plan accordingly. If wx is still an issue at high school dismissal time, we will encourage students to wait to leave until the system passes. Thank you.

Weather may cause some challenges at school dismissal time today. SFSD will make plans with your child's safety as our highest priority. If there are changes, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately. We ask that you please monitor your phone and email closely.

Football & Star Wars Fans Unite! Fri, May 3-7:05pm Sioux Falls STORM take on the Green Bay Blizzard to support Operation Hope & Caring, a fundraiser for SFSD elementary schools without PTAs. Wear Star Wars gear, grab a light saber, and get in on the fun!

Thank you to the students, staff, parents, and volunteers who made today's Fun Run a huge success! Way to Run Coyotes!

Oscar Howe 2-5th Graders are learning how to program Edison Robots in library class this week and next. They are programming it to follow a path, light, or sound. They are definitely learning and having fun with these Edison Robots.

Congratulations to Mrs. Alpers, Mrs. Hajek, and Ms. DeRuyter! These teachers each received a grant for their classrooms from the Education Foundation. Since 2008, the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation has been championing teachers and students by encouraging and funding innovative solutions to enrich education in all Sioux Falls public schools. Any teacher in the Sioux Falls School District can apply for up to $10,000 to purchase creative and inventive materials not financed by tax dollars.

🗳️ Help shape the future! Five candidates are vying for two open seats on the Sioux Falls School Board. Learn about them and make time to get to the polls on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/elections

Oscar Howe was honored to have the Varsity Boys Basketball Team from Roosevelt High School yesterday. They have the state tournament this weekend. It was exciting for our 5th graders to meet and play a little basketball with them. Good Luck at State Rough Riders!

The SFSD and the SFSD Community Learning Centers are teaming up to bring listening sessions right to your neighborhood! These sessions are designed to gather valuable insight from our community regarding the tools and support our schools provide to students for future planning, particularly focusing on College and Career Readiness.
What to expect:
Sharing thoughts and ideas on how our school can better support students and families in their journey towards making choices for their future.
Learn about resources already available to students.
Engage in open discussions to address any concerns or suggestions our community may have.

Memorial Middle School musical ensembles came to Oscar Howe to perform for the 4th and 5th graders last week. They did such a fabulous job that quite a few OH students are now excited about musical groups when they get to middle school. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!
