Thank you Walmart for coming to be part of our Read Across America Week! Walmart staff came and read books to our first graders. They brought them cookies and a couple of new books and supplies for the classrooms. Thank you, Walmart!

It is raining here at Oscar Howe! We have had 2,896 raindrops hung in the hallway in the last week. These kids are readers!! It is amazing! Keep it up, Oscar Howe!

We will be celebrating Read Across America Week with some fun dress-up days to encourage reading. Happy Reading!!
From March 1-22, help us create a downpour of books by adding a raindrop to our sky for each book your child reads or someone reads to them. They should be coming home with a reading tracker on Friday to track the number of books read. Please have your child record any books they read and bring the list with them on their library day. They will get to hang a raindrop for every book they read. This is a cooperation between the City of Sioux Falls, Siouxland Public Libraries, and Sioux Falls School District. The goal for the entire program is 300,000 books. Our Oscar Howe Goal is 9,500 books!! Let's get reading!

Tuesday, Feb 20 is a NO SCHOOL day, so be sure to stop by Oscar Howe Elementary for the second Community Health & Wellness fair, put on by the Community Learning Centers! There are lots of activities for kids, tons of community vendors, and amazing prizes for all!

Community Learning Centers are excited to share that we will be hosting Health & Wellness Fairs on February 20 at Oscar Howe. We have over 50 vendors who will be coming to share information, offer health screenings, host activities for all ages, and provide learning sessions, all to benefit families in our community.
