❤️ Mr. L Kindness Day – Monday, March 9 ❤️
This Monday, March 9, we will celebrate our first annual Mr. L Kindness Day as we remember and honor a very special member of the Garfield family.
Throughout the day, staff and students will be encouraged to share Random Acts of Kindness to celebrate the joy and positivity Mr. L brought to our school community. Mr. L had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for, and we want to continue spreading that same spirit of kindness throughout our building.
Students and staff are also invited to Dress for Mr. L by wearing a favorite jersey, Garfield spirit wear, or a favorite band t-shirt—things that reflect the interests and personality that made Mr. L so special.
This day is a celebration of the wonderful person Mr. L was and a reminder for all of us to carry forward the kindness he shared with others every day. 💙

“Va Milla Ice” is bringing cool confidence to Team Skogstad! At Garfield, he’s used to keeping things under control — and he’s bringing that same calm, cool energy to the court. Smooth moves, steady focus, and Eagle pride… this player is ice cold under pressure!

“Balling Bitterboy” is bringing hoops to the court! Known for his goofy personality, the legendary nickname “Bitterboy” came straight from the kids themselves. When he hits the floor, you can expect big energy, big smiles, and maybe even some big plays!
“Jumpin Johnson” is bringing the bounce to Team Skogstad! Known for his positive energy and big encouragement, he’s always helping others rise up — and now he’s ready to rise up for a few rebounds too. Keep an eye on the court, because when Jumpin Johnson gets moving, the Eagles might just see some serious hops!

“Rally Raabe” is the ultimate hype leader for the Eagles! As the coach, manager, and top encourager for team Bell, she’s always ready with a game plan and a cheer. Whether it’s from the sidelines or the court, she’s here to rally the team, boost the energy, and keep the Eagles flying high!

Today our 4th graders had an exciting visit during Specials from a basketball player at Minnesota State University Moorhead!
Students loved hearing about what it’s like to be a college student-athlete and the hard work, dedication, and teamwork it takes to compete at the next level. They asked thoughtful questions and were so engaged throughout the visit!
We are so thankful for the opportunity to connect our students with positive role models from our community. What a great day for our 4th graders! 💛
