ACE 4th and 5th graders played some card games with their Elementary Immersion Center (EIC) 4th and 5th grade "buddy classroom." Each week they plan different fun, social, and educational activities to build on forming new friendships with each other. Buddy classrooms really help students connect with others in our Jane Addams building! So fun!

Check out the Avera Virtual Family Forum Series! Avera is partnering with the Sioux Falls School District and is hosting some great parenting topics. If you are interested, please use the directions on the picture to join the topics that interest you for free!

Chalk day fun in Family time!! It was a beautiful day to create art masterpieces on the playground and in the back of the school with their new "Family" friends! They are so creative! Check out those smiles!

Family time is so fun! “Family time” is an opportunity for students to be in a mixed age K-5 group of students where they participate in fun, engaging, collaborative activities together three times a week. Each K-5 teacher is assigned a new group each year and siblings of kindergarteners get to be together! There is a focus on social emotional learning, group projects, technology, leadership qualities, and most of all fun! Today, students got a chance to blow bubbles together on the playground with the whole school! So many smiles!

Welcome back to school! We are already into our second week of school and staff and kids are excited for the year! Kids and families were able to take 'back to school' photos next to the cool "Welcome Back, All City" sign! This sign was generous donation from an ACE family! THANK YOU!! Feel free to post any of your fun pics below by the sign!

School drop-offs and pick-ups can be messy! Take your time, stay alert, and obey the rules of the road. A safe and orderly process makes the day start and end on a positive note for both students and parents!

A new app for parents of bus-eligible students is coming soon! The FREE Stopfinder app allows parents/guardians/daycare providers to see pick-up and drop-off times, the location of the bus, and other features in a secure app. More information will be coming soon, including an invitation to set up your child's account in Stopfinder. If you are the primary household of a bus-eligible student, please check your email for more information.

What better way to start August than some "inspired" learning? SFSD staff members are sharpening their skills to help your student(s) achieve!

Keep your students fueled to learn! SFSD is no longer able to offer free meals to all students. Now is a great time to add money to their My School Bucks account. Or, for families with qualifying income, it is important to fill out the Free/Reduced Meal application!
Log on to the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus to apply! If you have questions or need help filling out the application please call 605-367-6180. We are happy to help!
Please note: if your student does not have a free/reduced lunch application on file, you will be charged full price for breakfast and lunch starting the first day of school. Thank you!

Last day of school is always a special day! This year we had our annual carnival again with some slight changes due to the rainy weather, but it was still a blast! Students got to rotate to six different stations for about 20 minutes at a time. First station was bat dizzy while carrying ping pong balls with a ladle and then toilet paper ring toss. Second station was tattoos, chopstix nuts and bolts, and decorate Thunder Road donated balls. Third station was Candy Cloud Factory cotton candy with Wreck It Ralph Movie. Fourth and fifth stations were carnival games and bouncy horses from Dakota Entertainment and Bounce Around. The sixth station was 'Junk in the Trunk' minute it to win it game, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Cups game, and cup stacking. The kids had so much fun!
Thank you to Donna Stolz for organizing this event and lining up the volunteers and sponsors. Thank you to the parents who run each station: Clay, Austin, Collene, Anthony, Jacki, Gloria, Heidi, Jill, Dana, and Sarah! Thanks to the other parents scheduled that day that also helped in anyway! Thanks also to our sponsors who donated items for the kids to use! Big thanks to Thunder Road, Bounce Around Inflatables, Dakota Entertainment, Macs Hardware, Office Depot, and Phnom Penh. What a fun way to end our year together!
