Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 9th. Move your clocks forward one hour on Sunday morning!
Here are some great ideas to prepare for our clocks to SPRING AHEAD!
Don't be late for school on Monday!

Attitude of Gratitude was the February Mindset lesson. This mindset teaches us to recognize the positives in life and focus on what makes us happy. Be grateful for the world, ourselves, and others. Focusing on gratitude each day can bring us joy and happiness.
February Students of the Month exemplified the Seven Mindsets quality of having an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE
Congratulations to these students for continuing this Seven Mindsets quality and working on their PAWS everyday!
THE MARCH MINDSET IS LIVE TO GIVE. Giving love and respect to others, and receive
new and exciting things that come into our lives gracefully. Students will learn that by giving back through their interests and passions, they will help other people and leave a lasting legacy in the world.

Then and Now! Mr. D recently attended a Rough Rider Girls Basketball game and caught up with a few of his former Pettigrew students that played basketball together WAY BACK in 3rd grade! What a great flashback!

Happy Social Worker Week!
In the Sioux Falls School District, every student's journey is unique. For many of the kids we serve, our school social workers are there every step of the way! Whether offering a listening ear, connecting families to resources, or advocating for students' well-being, their dedication ignites hope and creates lasting impact in our schools.
This year's theme, Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact, is a perfect reflection of how our social workers bring people together to create brighter futures for students.
THANK YOU to our incredible school social workers for your compassion and care!

Siouxland Libraries is excited to partner with the Sioux Falls School District to encourage reading in our communities from March 1-31, 2025 for the Everybody Reads 2025 program.
Readers will help create a mountain of sweets by adding a gumball to a gumball display for each book they read. Our goal is 350,000 books and if we make it, a $1,700 donation will be made to REACH. REACH is a nonprofit that provides literacy instruction and experiences for adult and youth readers each year.
Our library at Pettigrew will also have a gumball display showing students how well we are doing at our school to work towards the 350,000 book goal!!

GUESS WHAT!! We made our PAWS ticket goal for the month of FEBRUARY! Tomorrow students may bring a stuffed animal to school with them! Way to go PANTHERS!

Recently in 505 and 506 music classrooms, students learned about "Musical Styles"! The 80s decade is one of the most fun and musically diverse time periods to study.
We see 70s Disco give way to Hip Hop, and the emergence of Punk Rock, which becomes an intro for the 90s Grunge era.
Mr. Ferri's 505 and 506 classes asked to do an 80s dress up day, which was Wednesday, Feb 12. So much creativity!

A recent Facebook post regarding Washington High School falsely claimed a routine request for a birth certificate was related to immigration status.
State Law (SDCL 13-27-3.1-3.3) requires all public school students to have a birth certificate on file within 30 days of enrollment. When required records are missing from student files, school staff regularly attempt to contact families before sending the required information to the State’s Attorney.
These requests are made solely to ensure compliance with State Law and to maintain complete student records. They are in no way related to immigration enforcement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families.
Please reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions rather than relying on social media for accurate information. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping student records up to date.
