Classes resume on Monday, January 5. This marks the final week of the first semester. Students are encouraged to check their planners and finish strong!

Happy New Year from Memorial Middle School! Welcome to 2026! We hope your holiday season has been filled with joy and rest. As we prepare to return, we are excited to continue striving for excellence and supporting our students in achieving their goals.

As we take a break from classes this week, we’re hitting "pause" to celebrate a fantastic first semester at MMS.
We embraced the "Spotify Wrapped" spirit to visualize just how impressive these past few months have been. From academic achievements in the classroom to incredible displays of sportsmanship and spirit in the hallways, our community has truly embodied our core values of Excellence and Community.
The "data" shows that kindness and hard work were our top tracks this year. We wish everyone a restful and restorative break. We can't wait to see what the 2026 playlist brings!

Memorial Middle School is proud to celebrate a major achievement by one of our own. On November 22nd, Holly Lynch was formally inducted into the South Dakota Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame. This induction recognizes her outstanding contributions to the sport and her dedication to student-athletes. Mrs. Lynch exemplifies our Core Value of Excellence, and we are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with her.

Gator 8 Students Create Blankets for Project Warm-Up
On Friday, December 12, students from the Gator 8 team participated in a service learning project for Project Warm-Up. The students worked together to tie and assemble fleece blankets, which will be distributed to those in need within the Sioux Falls community. This project highlights the Memorial Middle School Core Value of Community ("Take Care of Others"). We are proud of our students for their generosity and hard work!

The Challenger Team is proud to announce their Core Value Award winners for this month. These students were selected by their teachers for consistently demonstrating Memorial Middle School's core values: Community, Act Responsibly, Respect, and Excellence. By treating others with kindness, taking ownership of their learning, and serving their peers, these students set a fantastic example for the entire school. Congratulations to our winners!

On Thursday, December 11, the 6th Grade Mavericks Team held a special rally to honor their students' achievements. During the assembly, teachers presented CARE Awards to students who have consistently demonstrated Memorial's Core Values: Community, Act Responsibly, Respect, and Excellence. The rally was a wonderful opportunity for the 6th graders to come together, celebrate their peers, and build team spirit.

Just a reminder to our Memorial families: Monday: Regular Schedule; Tuesday: EARLY RELEASE (School dismisses at 1:48 PM); Wed - Fri: NO SCHOOL (Winter Break)

At Memorial Middle School, building Community happens both inside and outside the classroom! 🏫💚
We know that finding a sense of belonging is crucial for middle school success. That’s why we are proud to offer a variety of clubs where students can meet friends who share their specific interests.
Whether your student is a gamer, an artist, or a storyteller, there is a place for them here: ⛏️ Minecraft Club 🎲 Board Game Club ✨ Low Key Legends ✍️ Creative Writing Club 🎨 Art Club
Encourage your Mustang to listen to the daily announcements for meeting times and locations. It’s a great way to get involved and make new friends!
