No school Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday!


The 8th grade girls basketball team had their first game on Friday. The girls worked hard and played well as a team. Keep it up ladies!





Seventh grade accelerated science students conducted a lab to observe signs of chemical changes!




Last Tuesday, 8th grade students attended the JA Inspire Conference. They were able to connect with businesses and universities, gain insight into careers, and participate in hands-on activities. It was a great experience for all!





Tomorrow, our 8th grade students will be visiting some of our South Dakota universities. Please make sure that they have warm enough clothes to be walking around campus.


1,100 orchestra students grades 6-12 came together for a festival concert last Thursday at the Sioux Falls Arena. They had a great time at rehearsals and sounded awesome at the concert!





GMMS Expressions showed up to school on Saturday to learn all of the choreography for their show choir show. Thanks for your hard work! Come see their competition show on January 13 at Jefferson High School.





8th grade band students will be performing with the Jefferson Symphony Band on Tuesday night and Friday is the first basketball game of the year! Lots of exciting things happening this week at GMMS.


Kenley Miritello was selected to be a part of the South Dakota Junior Honor Choir. This is the highest honor a student can achieve in choir. She will be performing in January in Rapid City with best 7th-9th grade singers in the state. Congratulations Kenley!


Five students represented George McGovern Middle School at the Sioux Falls Middle School All-City Honor Band concert at the Washington Pavilion on Thursday evening. They have been rehearsing with students from other Sioux Falls schools for the past seven weeks to prepare for their concert. Congratulations to these students and their conductor, Mr. Rygg, on an outstanding performance!



Thursday night was the first dance of the year. Both students and staff had a great time rocking it out on the dance floor and using the photo booth. Thanks to all who attended. We can't wait till the next one!





Last week, 6th graders learned to work together and communicate through the human knot activity during Protime.
