REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Master’s Degree in Counseling

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Experience in a behavioral treatment program or counseling children in a school or agency setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant eye-mind and eye-hand coordination, hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking, writing, bending and stooping. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, hands and fingers.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in working with students at-risk of school failure, working with outside agencies for at-risk students, and developing intervention strategies to support student success.

Principal, Coordinator of Student Support Services, Coordinator of Health Services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  1. Coordinate 504 plans and implementation.

  2. Coordinate Problem Solving Team and assist with developing strategies, interventions and goals for at-risk students.

  3. Liaison between placement programs from which students transition into regular school programs.

  4. Check and connect regularly with students in transition or assigned by school Problem Solving Team.

  5. Target former and potential dropouts and communicate with students and parents to develop alternative programs or a return to the regular education setting.

  6. Meet with students and parents to problem solve and discuss educational goals on your caseload.

  7. Attend weekly attendance meetings with administrators, counselors, and social workers to target students with attendance issues.

  8. Point of contact for court service workers, providing education data and student updates.

  9. Connect students on your caseload with appropriate community mental health services.

  10. Collect and report data regarding behavior interventions and education plans of all students involved in at-risk programming.

  11. Coordinate intake meetings for Joe Foss referrals.

  12. Check and connect with students attending Joe Foss weekly.

  13. Refer, monitor, and case manage alternate placement/programs such as Job Corp and  GED.

  14. Assist with building interventions with Tier II classroom, online learning, credit recovery, and behavior room.

  15. Coordinate with Administration and Building Registrar in regard to enrolling students who are at-risk (credit deficient, behavior/safety concerns, or transferring  from placement).

  16. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT | Inside & Outside

Climate controlled environment with some temperature variations. Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment.

HAZARDS

Occasional travel may cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
