Child Nutrition Services

Education Level:

Bachelor’s of Science and experiences in Food Nutrition, Food Service Management, dietetics, family Consumer science, Nutrition Education, Culinary arts, business or related field. Registered Dietitian Preferred. 

Experience Required:

Three to five years of experience in the Management of school nutrition programs, hospital or nursing home.

Physical Requirements:

Requires constant hearing, hand-eye coordination, mind-eye coordination; sitting, frequent speaking, standing, scheduling, sorting, carrying, filing, dialing, lifting and bending over.  Occasional repetitive motion with wrists, hands and fingers.  Must have ability to drive a car.

Other Requirements:

Knowledge of USDA child feeding program regulations.  Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with others.  Ability to work with numbers and perform basic math computations.  Requires computer skills, data entry, word processing and spreadsheets.

Essential Functions & Duties

  1. Writes all District menus to comply with District, State and Federal guidelines.

  2. Works with Health Services and families regarding required meal modifications.

  3. Monitors NSLP, Child Care, School Breakfast and Summer Food Service programs.

  4. Conducts on site reviews, evaluations and training.

  5. Prepares and analyzes production records for all programs.

  6. Assists in providing nutritional education to students, teachers and parents.

  7. Assists in manager training meetings.

  8. Computes nutritional analysis of all menus.

  9. Assists in planning special menus for students with health concerns in conjunction with school nurses, parents and school staff.

  10. Assists in planning all catering events.

  11. Assists in all orders and usages for food, commodities and supplies.

  12. Adheres to District, State and Federal guidelines.

  13. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of Child Nutrition Services.
