REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Two or more years post high school education, with preference given to early child-centered studies and/or early childhood development expertise. Child Development Associates (CDA) credential preferred.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Previous work in an educational setting, childcare, daycare, CPR certification, First Aid training, familiarity with various child development techniques

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing; frequent bending over, crouching, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, threading, turning, and walking.  Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding, and unlocking are also required.  Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force, occasionally.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Patience, flexibility, caring personality, punctuality, and dependability. Experience with monitoring social and emotional development and behavior management. Excellent oral and written communications skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  1. Constantly provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for children ages 3-5.

  2. Assists with the supervision of students in the classroom, on the playground and during school outings.

  3. Supervised children's play, always making sure of their physical safety.

  4. Provides personal care to students with daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).

  5. Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups.

  6. Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by Preschool Leader/Teacher.

  7. Acknowledging and responding to different developmental and behavioral levels exhibited by children.

  8. Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).

  9. Displaying high levels of motivation and patience

  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  11. Excellent time management and organizational skills

  12. Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT | Inside & Outside

Occasionally subjected to outside/cold below 32 degrees.  Occasionally subjected to heat above 100 degrees.  Occasionally subjected to extreme noise.  Occasionally subjected to dusts and allergens.

HAZARDS

Rubber gloves provided for personal care of students as a protective device.
