Receives Guidance From Middle School Principal, Coordinator of Athletics

Education Level

High School Diploma, BA/BS Education Preferred

Experience Desired

High school/college participation

Physical Requirements

Hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit. The ability to travel between locations.

Other Requirements

Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent; Concussion in Sports – What You Need to Know (must be renewed on an annual basis. Knowledge of the sport. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.

Essential Functions & Duties

A. Issues equipment and supervise the students’ care of it; check in and inventory equipment at the end of the season.
B. Supervises physical examinations and be certain that every athlete returns the necessary form signed by the doctor and parent.
C. Promotes a style of play consistent with the scope and sequence of the total program.
D. Prepares a daily practice schedule and make continued efforts to improve coaching techniques.
E. Dresses appropriately for coaching duties at practice and game time.
F. Adheres to policies and procedures established by the Sioux Falls School District.
G. Administers first aid to an injured player and take appropriate action such as notifying the family doctor, the parent, athletic director, and building principal.
H. Communicates between officials and coaches in professional manner.
I. Attends rules meetings and is familiar with the rules of the game.
J. Attends coaches meeting as deemed necessary by Coordinator of Athletics.
K. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside

Often subjected to extremes of cold below 32 degrees and heat above 100 degrees. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust and poor ventilation.

Hazards

Exposure to body fluids, communicable diseases. Travel between locations will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.

Work Year

Extra duty/extra pay positions are for a fiscal year (July 1-June30). Duties of the position may be performed any time during that time period depending upon the position/season.
