Physical Requirements

This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent repetitive motions with the wrists, hands and fingers, sitting, walking, talking, and keyboarding. The position requires frequent lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, speaking, turning, grasping and carrying.

Other Requirements

Proficiency with vocal and piano. Must exhibit leadership, organization, public relations and business skills. Demonstrated ability to follow Board policy.

Essential Functions & Duties

  1. Assists in the preparation of all concerts and ensemble performances as assigned by head director. Participates in choral festivals, competitions, and region contests.

  2. Prepares students for participation in choral festivals, competitions and region contests.

  3. Assists in the preparation of students for participation in homecoming and booster club activities.

  4. Assists in the preparation of students for auditions, rehearsals and performances of All State Chorus and festival and Honor Choirs as assigned.

  5. Assists in the maintenance of the building choral music library.

  6. Rehearses choral sectionals, combined choruses and group instruction.

  7. Assists in choir robe inventory including name/address/phone/parent and/or guardian of user.

  8. Biannually assists in the preparation of a music theater production (accompanist, solo/chorus coach or choreographer) with the theater and orchestra departments.

  9. Assists in the collection and processing of data for the awards program.

  10. Assists in the selection and purchase of vocal ensemble costumes.

  11. Organizes and directs chorus and ensemble retreats.

  12. Works with the other members of the department to coordinate all activities of the choral department.

  13. Participates in the preparation and presentation of a Middle School Choral Festival on a three year rotation.

  14. Coordinates rehearsal/performance room usage with the other music directors and the Fine Arts Department Chair.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside

Possibly exposed to extremes of temperature. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise, odors, mists, dust and poor ventilation.

Hazards

Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Travel between locations will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.

Work Year

Extra duty/extra pay positions are for a fiscal year (July 1- June 30). Duties of the position may be performed any time during that time period depending upon the position/season.
