REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION LEVEL: | Master’s degree in an approved program which qualifies for secondary principal certification with the state of South Dakota |

EXPERIENCE DESIRED: | A minimum of four years’ teaching experience at the secondary level. |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | This position requires constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent walking, talking, writing. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, fingers, and hands are required. |
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: | Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets and data entry. Knowledge of the best educational practices at the secondary level and current research on secondary education |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Assists the principal in the daily management and operation of the high school
Assists with student discipline, which includes contacts with parents and outside agencies.
Supervises student activities before school, during the day, after school, in the evening and on weekends.
Assists with student attendance procedures and contacts with parents.
Assists with teacher evaluations and working with teachers on Plans of Assistance.
Supervises and evaluates support staff assigned to the building.
Supervises and evaluates custodial staff and building and grounds personnel assigned to the building.
Participates in the hiring process for staff and in planning and implementing staff development activities.
Participates in curriculum development and programming for special programs (at- risk students, advanced placement, gifted and talented, etc.)
Assists the principal in planning and conducting staff meetings and department meetings.
Assists with the development of the master schedule and coordination of student registrations.
Assists the principal with the budgeting process.
Chairs special education IEP meetings, evaluation team meetings and department meetings.
Assists the principal in enforcing District policies and developing building procedures.
Participates in community and District activities as a representative of the high school.
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT | Both Inside & Out
Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
HAZARDS
For some buildings, stairs, chalk-dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. In science labs, there could be exposure to chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions.
