Receives Guidance from Elementary Teachers

Education Level

Must meet No Child Left Behind requirement of two years post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota.

Physical Requirements

This position requires constant hand-eye, mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent holding, repetitive motions with wrists, hands, fingers, opening, pulling, reaching, sitting, sorting, speaking, talking, turning and writing. Frequent bending over, carrying, filing, grasping, keyboarding and stooping are required.

Other Requirements

Demonstrated skill using a computer for word processing and data entry.

Essential Functions & Duties

1. Assists teacher in identifying student needs.
2. Provides tutorial assistance for students in all classes.
3. Prepares instruction and supplementary materials.
4. Keeps records.
5. Checks papers, workbooks, homework and tests.
6. Assists students with makeup work.
7. Maintains student confidentiality.
8. Assists teachers in supervising students in the classroom.
9. May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Working Conditions

Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside

Occasionally subjected to outside and cold below 32 degrees, heat above 100 degrees, extreme noise, fumes, odors, dusts, and poor ventilation. May require outside supervision/field trips.
