Requirements
Education Level | Master’s degree and endorsements for level of assignment. South Dakota certification or licensure. Completion of an education specialist or doctoral degree, preferred. |

Experience Desired | Prior administrative experience required. Five years’ successful teaching experience at the appropriate level. |
Physical Requirements | This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent keyboarding, repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers, sitting, speaking, writing, carrying, filing, indexing, opening, scheduling, standing, and walking is also required. |
Other Requirements | Effective oral and written communication skills. Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management. Knowledge of curriculum at the appropriate level, best practices in education and effective schools research. Demonstrated ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. High level of organizational skills. |

Essential Function & Duties
Directs and monitors School Improvement and Targeted Support and Improvement Plans, maintaining regular communication with principals to track progress toward District and school-level objectives.
Provides leadership for all phases of federal programs including development and submission of the Consolidated Application.
Develops and coordinates federal program priorities, activities, and plans with District leadership to ensure program efficiency, accountability, and concordance with federal regulations, District goals, and individual school improvement plans.
Supports central office and building administrators with federal compliance technical assistance.
Directs Title I, Title IIA and Title IV programs and activities.
Directs District Library Program
Provides leadership to World Language Immersion and EL Programs
Develops and monitors the following budgets: Title I – Improving Basic Programs, Title I – Neglected & Delinquent, Title I – School Improvement, Title I – Set Aside Funds, Title II Part A, Title IV, Elementary Libraries, Middle School Libraries, High School Libraries, Indirect Costs, and ESSER.
Coordinates with the District’s Finance Department to complete financial reporting requirements.
Works with federal program advisory committees.
Prepares and submits required reports to local, state, and federal agencies.
Informs appropriate departments of grant opportunities and facilitates application process.
Establishes and maintains essential demographic information performance data to support applications and proposals.
Assists in principal evaluations to ensure alignment with academic goals and standards.
Attends Board of Education meetings.
Provides leadership in District committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Climatic Environment | Inside & Outside
Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards
For some buildings, stairs, chalk dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. In science labs, there could be exposure to chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
