Requirements
Education Level | Master ’s degree in an approved program which qualifies for elementary principal certification with the state of South Dakota. |

Experience Desired | A minimum of four years’ teaching experience at the elementary level. |
Physical Requirements | This position requires constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent walking, talking, writing. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, fingers, and hands are required. |
Other Requirements | Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the best educational practices and effective schools research. The ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry. |

Essential Function & Duties
Assists the principal in the administration of the building.
Assists in the supervision and evaluation of all staff assigned to the building.
Assists in monitoring the instructional program which is consistent with District curriculum.
Assists in monitoring student achievement and working with teachers to improve student achievement.
Assists the principal with IEP meetings.
Works cooperatively with site council and other groups within the school community.
Communicates with staff, parents, students and the school community.
Assists the principal in providing a safe and secure environment for learning.
Assists the principal with student discipline and behavior management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Climatic Environment | Inside & Outside
Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards
For some buildings, stairs, chalkdust, and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. In science labs, there could be exposure to chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions.
