The 34th Annual Dr. John W. Harris Teacher of the Year Award Ceremony will be held on Monday, March 14th at Axtell Park. This year, there were 69 outstanding nominees for this prestigious award. A judging panel made up of one School Board member, a former Teacher of the Year recipient, and community members narrowed the list down to just five finalists.
Our finalists are
- Nathan Alfson, a RISE teacher at Washington High School
- Diana Johnson, 1st Grade Teacher at Garfield Elementary
- Ashley Kracke, 5th Grade Teacher at R.F. Pettigrew Elementary
- Erin Larson, English Language Arts Teacher at Edison Middle School
- Nick Opdahl, Carpentry Teacher at CTE Academy
The winner will be given a $4,000 cash prize from Vern Eide Motorcars and will be eligible to qualify for the South Dakota Teacher of the Year award!
