
The School Board has voted to move the last day of student classes to Friday, May 26, 2023 - requiring students to make up two of the five days missed due to weather. Staff will report through Friday, June 2, 2023.

The Cafés’ purpose is to provide resources to help young people develop workplace readiness skills, make career goals, and identify post-secondary options that match those career goals.
Oscar Howe offers cafes in Government & Public Service, Architecture & Construction, STEM, Agriculture & Natural Resources, Information Technology, Health Science, Human Services, Finanace and Hospitatlity & Tourism.

Fun Space Fact: Being an astronaut takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and training. How do you become an astronaut? In order to be an astronaut, people must go through a competitive selection process. In 2021, 12,000 people applied, and only 10 were accepted. What are the requirements? Basic requirements, according to NASA, include US citizenship and a master's degree in a STEM field, like engineering, biological science, or computer science. Astronauts must be in good shape and able to pass NASA's demanding physical exams.

Girls on the run (GOTR) has officially started and our girls are having a great time buidling relationships, understanding themselves, recognizing how we can the world at large and valuing teamwork.
Teamwork and Trust was the lesson today. They worked together to trust each other and work together to stand while locking arms and facing opposite directions. No easy feat! Mrs. Hajek and Mrs. Gustaf performed an example, an then a dynamic duo (Briar and Nora) achieved the goal!

Explaining STEM/STEAM
STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
We offer STEAM for current 4th and 5th graders. They are nominated by teachers to participate. In this session they were creating a structre strong enough to withstand an earthquake.




SFSD would like to give a huge shout-out to our partners at Delta Dental who visit schools to complete much-needed dental work for eligible students! Cleanings, cavities, and root canals are all done in the mobile bus, so students don’t have to miss school for an appointment! You put a smile on our faces, Delta Dental! Thank you!

Dr. Seuss's Birthday is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2nd. Today K05 had two special visitors who came in to help celebrate the big day. Mrs. Halling's mom and aunt :)
The kindergarten students got to make Dr. Seuss hats, enjoy some treats and read along!
