Today, on the 217th Birthday of School namesake Abraham Lincoln, the class of 1975 presented a donation of $2500 to LHS Principal, Dr. Laura Raeder, to be used for Lincoln’s Club 17.
“Lincoln High gave us a great education and a great start to our lives,” explained 1975 graduate Mike Wagner of Sioux Falls. “We celebrated our 50th Reunion last September, and we wanted to give back to the school that gave us so much!”
Club 17 is focused on the needs of Lincoln students during the 17 hours of the day that they are not in school. The gift from the Class of 1975 was made possible by a successful Reunion last September. The Class of 1975 hopes that their gift is the first of many that will help support the Club 17 effort.
Wagner continued, “We have an anonymous donor from our Class of ’75 who has offered to match dollar for dollar additional donations to Club 17. Up to another $2500. So, we’re hoping that with all the gifts combined, we can raise at least $7500 towards this great cause. And, to be honest, we hope that the class of 1976 and other classes that cross the 50-year mark can help support this Lincoln High effort in the years ahead.”
Donations can be sent to Lincoln High School and will count toward the matching funds challenge.
