Every month, we have a school-wide PBIS celebration. What is PBIS? It stands for Positive Behavior Interventions & Support. It’s a school-wide approach to promote a safer and more positive learning culture. Students’ learn to practice “The Explorer Way,” which is:
Take care of yourself (body to self, self-regulation).
Take care of others (be kind, use manners).
Take care of this place (respect property, follow expectations).
September’s PBIS celebration/theme was “Be a Difference.” The younger classrooms paired up with their older buddy classrooms. Each classroom received a set of ribbons (one for each student and staff member). Together, the older buddies in the classroom helped the younger buddies write one thing that they have recently done to help someone or to make a positive difference in someone's life. The older buddies also shared and wrote their own ribbon. The ribbons were collected and are now displayed in our front entryway. The ribbons are a reminder of how we take care of others!
