Related Services are support services required to assist a student with a disability to benefit from special education. The services are provided as outlined on the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and delivered by qualified staff.

Braille and Orientation and Mobility Services

Specialized services of brailling and orientation and mobility are provided based on information obtained through evaluation and as documented on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student. The services may take the form of Braille instruction, large print materials, assistive technology, direct one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction within the classroom setting. Some children are served in an indirect manner through the consulting model. Orientation and mobility training is provided on an individual basis, as determined threw the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.

Speech and Language Services

Services are provided based on information obtained through evaluation and as documented on the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student. These services may include articulation, language development, augmentative communication, direct one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction within the classroom setting. Some children are served in an indirect manner through the consulting model. The services are generally delivered utilizing the itinerant tutorial approach with some language group instruction within the classroom setting.

School Psychological Services

The Psychology Program provides evaluations for students suspected of having a disability. The program is designed to meet the mandates for initial and three-year evaluation of special education students. In addition, it provides evaluation and consultation services to assist teachers and administrators in providing appropriate programs for students.

Occupational and Physical Therapy Services

Services are provided based on information obtained through evaluation and as documented on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student. These services may include gross or fine motor development, training in activities of daily living, positioning or mobility training. Services may be delivered individually or in small groups, in pullout or classroom settings. Some children are served in an indirect manner through the consulting model.
