Community Involvement in Decision Making

The Sioux Falls School District seeks to engage parents/guardians, partners, and the greater community in meaningful activities and dialogues that foster shared responsibility for student growth. Participation in the educational process by stakeholders is essential to maintaining mutual confidence and respect.

The District and each school will involve stakeholders in decision making to ensure an equitable and quality education for all students. The District encourages community participation at school board meetings and on various committees. Schools will encourage parent/guardian and community involvement in a variety of formats, such as PTA/PTO, mentoring, school/business partnerships, accreditation teams, advisory committee assignments, and classroom volunteering. In addition, each building in the District is required to involve parents/guardians in developing the School Improvement Plan.
