Student Physicals for School Athletics
In order to help ensure the health and safety of students participating in athletics, Beginning the 2019-2020 school year, the School Board will require an annual physical evaluation of all students who participate in South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) recognized interscholastic athletics, all Sioux Falls School District approved club sports, and any other school sponsored activity deemed as physically demanding as an athletic activity. This evaluation must occur after April 1 for the ensuing school year but prior to the first practice/workout of the athletic activity in which the student is participating. A triannual physical evaluation is required of participants during the 2018-19 school year.
If a 7th or 8th grade student wishes to participate in the interscholastic middle school athletic program a physical evaluation is required prior to participation. The physical evaluation shall occur anytime after April 1 of the student’s 5th grade year and before participation begins.
