Community Resource People
Presentations by community resource people will:
- align with the goals of the School District and the appropriate curriculum guide
- match the maturity level of the students
During curriculum studies, community resource presentations related to the respective content area are reviewed. Approved presentations are included in the curriculum.
Along with the list of community resource presentations included in the curriculum, teachers are encouraged to use the talents and knowledge of additional individuals from the community when such expertise is relevant to the curriculum. Teachers are expected to exercise judgment and to select speakers who offer qualifications and resources not available in the schools. Teachers are required to notify their building administrator in advance of community resource presentations.
Teachers who schedule guest speakers, other than those approved by the curriculum committee, must preview and approve the presentation and/or its content before class. Teachers are to advise guest speakers on any content that is not appropriate for the class. The presentation may not reflect adversely on any group or person because of their race, color, religion, creed, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or occupation.
Teachers must remain with students during presentations. Teachers or administrators are required to interrupt or suspend a presentation if the content is in conflict with this policy. Teachers will report any such incidences to the building administrator.
