I Voted

Local city elections, like school board elections, have some of the lowest voter turnout. Yet elections like these oftentimes have the biggest impact on citizens of a community. Many times, more than national or state elections. In 2021, voter turnout for the Sioux Falls School Board Election was only 5.13% of registered voters. In 2019, it was even lower at 3.86%. With this in mind, we would ask you to please come out and vote in the next Sioux Falls School Board election, which will be held in conjunction with the city election on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.  Find more voter information here!

There are two seats on the School Board open this spring, with three-year terms starting in July. The seats of current Board Members, Carly Reiter and Nan Baker are up for election. If you live within District boundaries and feel called to run for one of these two open seats, a petition of candidacy must be circulated and signed by 20 registered voters that also reside within Sioux Falls School District boundaries. Nominating petitions may be picked up now at the Instructional Planning Center (201 E. 38th Street). They must be returned to the Instructional Planning Center by 5:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2922.
