Student Fees, Fines and Charges
In accordance with the South Dakota State Constitution, the Sioux Falls School Board maintains a general and uniform system of public schools. Student admission shall be without charge and equally open to all.
To this end, there will be no instructional fees. Books will be provided on a loan basis. No rental fees will be assessed for textbooks and workbooks used in the classroom or for reference. The District may assess the cost for damaged, abused or lost school materials, textbooks, and equipment.
Except as provided in IJNDB and IJNDB-R, fees will not be charged for academic courses during the regular school year, for materials needed for required course projects or for participation in extra curricular activities.
Students participating in one-time activities (such as field trips) which are not used in the determination of a grade may be required to pay charges covering the cost of the activity. However, it is incumbent that no student is denied the right to participate in trips or other enrichment activities because of lack of funds.
