Program Access for Students with Disabilities or Students with Substantially Limiting Health Impairments

The Sioux Falls School District will seek to assure that the educational services provided to otherwise qualified students with a disability or students with substantially limiting health impairments are reasonably calculated to afford such students an equal opportunity to achieve educational benefit as is provided to all students.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA)
Procedures for implementing the IDEIA and related rules are specified in the District’s Comprehensive Plan for Special Education. The comprehensive plan is adopted by the School Board and approved by the State Office of Special Education in keeping with Administrative Rules of South Dakota 24:05:21 and can be accessed on the District’s website.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 or the Americans with Disabilities Act (Section 504)
Procedures for establishing an accommodation plan that addresses the needs of students with substantially limiting health impairments who do not qualify for special education are primarily the responsibility of the respective school's Section 504 Team. Inquires relating to the identification, evaluation or placement of a student under Section 504 shall be directed to the Section 504 Coordinator - Supervisor of Health Services.
