Selection of Library and Supplemental Instructional Resources and Materials
It is the policy of the School Board to provide supplemental educational materials that support and enrich the curriculum and further the achievement of the District’s instructional goals. These materials include school library collections, licensed databases, and classroom collections.
In selecting supplemental instructional resources, the professional staff will:
The selection of supplemental materials is an ongoing process in order to keep up with the expansion of knowledge and the rapid changes in the world today. Librarians in consultation with teachers and administrators will select library resources and materials. Supplemental instructional resources and materials for the classroom will be selected by classroom teachers in consultation with their building principal and appropriate District coordinators.
In order to maintain and promote use of supplementary instructional materials, the collections must be regularly reviewed. Lost and worn materials with continuing educational value will be replaced. Items that are no longer appropriate or out-of-date will be removed. Gift materials may be accepted or rejected based upon the criteria on the next page.
