Summer Instructional Programs
Community Education will offer summer programs at the high school, middle school and elementary levels in various buildings throughout the Sioux Falls School District. High school offerings will include opportunities for course credit. Middle school and elementary summer programs will provide academic support as well as enrichment based on state standards. Program costs will be covered by participant fees and general fund support of a sliding fee scale.
Special Education Extended School Year Programs
Extended School Year (ESY) programs will be provided as directed by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (I.D.E.A.) and outlined in the Sioux Falls School District Special Education Comprehensive Plan to eligible students at no cost to parents.
Federally Funded Summer Programs
If federal funding is available, specialized summer programs for targeted populations and/or purposes are offered to provide remediation and/or enrichment, dependent on the guidelines from the funding source. The summer site and staffing needs will be determined in the planning process and eligible students will be notified regarding the availability of the summer opportunity. The Federal Programs Coordinator will assist with the planning and administration of the program.
