Permanent Employees for Purposes of South Dakota Retirement System

Definitions
Permanent Full-Time Employee. “Permanent Full-Time Employee” for the purpose of the South Dakota Retirement System shall mean any person who is employed by the Sioux Falls School District and:

  1. Is customarily employed at least twenty (20) hours per week;
  2. Is customarily employed to work at least six (6) months a year; and
  3. Is customarily employed in one of the following job classifications: Administrator, Child Nutrition Manager, Child Nutrition Worker, Clerical, Custodial Manager, Custodian, Education Assistant, Executive Administrator, Executive Assistant, Specialist, Teacher, or is employed pursuant to an Employment Contract.

Non-Permanent Employee. “Non-Permanent Employee” for the purpose of the South Dakota Retirement System shall mean any person who is employed by the Sioux Falls School District who is not a “Permanent Full-Time Employee” or any employee hired/appointed to fill an interim or temporary position who was not under contract with the District at the time the interim or temporary position begins. An interim position is typically appointed after the fiscal year has begun and is not expected to last beyond the end of the fiscal year. A temporary position is one that is not expected, at the time of appointment or hire, to last more than two (2) years.
