The Department of Assessment, Technology and Information Services (ATI) consists of Student Assessment and Evaluation, the Reprographics Center, Technical Services, and Information Services.

Student Assessment

The current Sioux Falls School District assessment program includes both District-developed and State-mandated achievement testing. In addition to a State-mandated writing assessment at grades 5, 7, and 10, the State also requires achievement testing for No Child Left Behind at grades 3 - 8 and 11. The District conducts writing assessments at grades 4, 6, 8 and 11. Semester tests are developed at the District level for selected courses in English, math, social studies, science, and Spanish I. Assessment data is reported to parents/guardians and is available online for District staff.

High school students may elect to take college entrance tests such as the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) is available to students who wish to be considered for a National Merit Scholarship.

Technical Services

The Sioux Falls School District operates a repair shop for some of its computer hardware, overhead projectors, VCRs, television monitors, audiocassette recorders, and laser printers. The District also has laminating services and distributes filmstrips, videocassettes and library materials through this department.

Information Services

Information Services supports more than 20,000 students and 2,800 employees. During the year, Information Services produces report cards, transcripts, student schedules, payroll checks, accounts payable checks and several thousand labels. Requested reports are produced and printed at the Center or printed to the schools or departments remote printers. Significant student system and HR/Pay/Finance program development and/or enhancements have been completed. Significant systems have also been developed or enhanced on the District’s Internet and Intranet systems.
