The Office of the Superintendent is the chief executive office of the School District, providing overall leadership for the school system.

The Superintendent, with the assistance of four directors, one assistant superintendent and the Business Manager, maintains a vital staff and strong curriculum for the K-12 program, early childhood, Head Start, and the programs at Southeast Technical Institute; provides special programs for exceptional children and support services such as child nutrition, transportation, libraries, counselors, and health services; manages 24 elementary schools, five middle schools, three traditional high schools, an alternative high school, a project based learning high school, a career and technical education academy, one post-secondary technical institute and all other District-owned facilities; prepares the annual budget and oversees the fiscal management of the District; is responsible for making policy recommendations and implementing adopted Board policies; and serves as chief liaison with the community-at-large.
