Every middle school student should learn to think critically, analyze and solve problems, communicate and collaborate, and use creativity to master academic content, lead a healthy life, behave ethically, and assume the responsibilities of citizenship. The Sioux Falls middle schools provide developmentally responsive and academically challenging environments for adolescent learners.
The five Sioux Falls middle schools are organized into smaller learning communities, or teams, that support the cognitive, social, and emotional needs of young adolescents. Middle school includes grades 6-8. Each student experiences a core curriculum in language arts/reading, math, science, and social studies. In addition students take encore or exploratory classes in health, physical education, music, Spanish, Family and Consumer Science, art, humanities, Information Communication Technology, and Careers and Technical Education.
