DianeKennedyJohn Harris Elementary welcomes our Leadership Intern, Mrs. Diane Kennedy, who is currently participating in the District’s Leadership Development Institute. The purpose of the Leadership Development Institute is to enable the District to identify future leaders, to cultivate leaders, and to maximize achievement of the District’s mission “to educate and prepare each student to succeed in a changing world.” This is Mrs. Kennedy’s twenty sixth year with the Sioux Falls School District. She was an elementary teacher for twenty two years at John F. Kennedy and Harvey Dunn. She has been an Instructional Coach for the last three years before taking the job as our Leadership Intern. She is married to Steve Kennedy, a teacher at Anne Sullivan, and has three children, Mathew, Andrew and Sidney. While at our school, Mrs. Kennedy’s role will involve supporting and communicating with staff, parents, students and the entire school community. Mrs. Kennedy will be assisting the principal with staff supervision, conducting drop-in observations, working with teachers to improve student achievement, chairing IEP meetings when needed, and will contribute to providing a safe and secure environment for learning, by assisting with student discipline, behavior management and encouraging student success.
