Rooted in the Past - Reaching for the Future!

In the spirit of honoring the past and contributing to the future, the Sioux Falls School District will celebrate its 150th Anniversary by planting a tree on the property of each of its schools in September 2021. Sponsorship donations for each tree are now being accepted through the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation.

Sponsorships for a 2-inch to 3-inch tree (balled and burlapped for September planting) and planting supplies are $150, $175, $300, $450 or any other amount donors choose. Donor names will appear on a tree plaque to commemorate the gift.

Trees represent new hope, sustained growth, and a strong foundation on which to build. The District 150th Anniversary Planning Committee chose the symbol of a tree and the theme “Rooted in the Past ~ Reaching for the Future” to signify the public school’s role as a major contributor to the success of Sioux Falls and its people. Families, businesses, service groups, individuals, alumni, and friends are invited to sponsor a tree and be present as the school conducts the ceremonial planting.
