The Lincoln High School visual arts department is celebrating some fantastic recent successes.
Thirteen Lincoln students recently entered the Scholastic Art and Writing contest for 2019, and 12 of them received awards, including seven honorable mentions (accomplished works submitted to local programs showing great skill and potential), two Silver Key Awards (Stand-out works submitted to local programs that demonstrate exceptional ability), four Gold Key Awards (the very best works submitted to local programs. Gold Key works are automatically considered for national-lever recognition) and the school also earned a Gold Key Portfolio.
Images of the Gold Key winners are shown here.
The Gold Key works were then exhibited at USD. Regional Affiliates nominate 5 Gold Key pieces as " Best of Show" from all Gold Key pieces in this region. One recipient from this region will win the American Vision and Voices Award. Mckennan Folkerts and Jada Carlson are currently in the running for this award.
All Gold Key winners’ work goes on to be judged again at the national level in NYC, and there will be a reception at Carnegie Hall for all Gold Key winners. The Gold Key portfolio winners are also in the running for university scholarships.
